Abercrombie & Kent has its own teams in the places you travel, and its on-the-ground “guardian angels” provide 24/7 support, so you can travel with confidence.
On Small Group Journeys, Resident Tour Directors who have lived for years in the country lead the way, joined by expert local guides.
In Egypt, A&K says that of more than 5,000 licensed guides, fewer than 200 are chosen to work with its guests.
A&K Egypt alone has seven offices and more than 400 staff, and A&K has six offices across East Asia, including Tokyo and Kyoto.
In Egypt, A&K arranges experiences such as dining under the stars at the Temple of Luxor, museums before they open, and tombs normally closed to the public.
On a Small Group Journey, your Resident Tour Director is your best resource from the first day to the last. Ask questions early and often; local knowledge is what makes these journeys special.

Unless otherwise listed, all pricing is per person, based on double occupancy, specific to the journey, departure date, and room type quoted, and subject to availability at the time of booking.
Small Group Journeys depart on set dates with limited space, and Tailormade journeys are priced to your plans, so prices and availability can change. By booking, you agree to the supplier’s terms, available on its website.
Some destinations charge reciprocity, border, or departure fees, and permits for gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda are an added, nonrefundable cost. Additional fees may apply from Avoya Travel or A&K if a cancellation occurs.
Please review Abercrombie & Kent’s full cancellation policy before final payment, available in its Terms & Conditions.
I recommend travel protection for every trip, and I’m happy to provide quotes so you can compare coverage before final payment.

If you ever need help with payments, or would like me to walk you through your options, I’m always here.
How tipping works depends on how you travel. On a Small Group Journey, gratuities are included throughout, except for your Resident Tour Director. On Tailormade and private journeys, gratuities are not included.
Gratuities at a GlanceGratuities for your Resident Tour Director, and for the guide on a pre- or post-tour extension, are not included and are left to you.
Tips for your guides, drivers, and camp or hotel staff aren’t included, and your guide’s meals are on you if you invite them to dine with you.
A&K doesn’t publish set amounts, so I’ll share what’s customary for each destination as we plan.
Wondering how much cash to bring for tips and incidentals? My guide to cash, cards, and currency in Europe has practical pointers.
Gratuity practices are set by A&K and may change. I’ll confirm what’s included for your journey.
In the weeks before departure, a few simple steps get you ready:
Most hotels allow check-in in the midafternoon, and early check-in can’t be guaranteed.
A little preparation makes your first day effortless. Keep these details handy:
On Small Group Journeys, the minimum age is 10 unless the journey notes otherwise, and a reasonable level of fitness is needed to enjoy each journey as intended.
It is each traveler’s responsibility to carry proper documentation. Here’s what to have in order before you go.
Names on reservations must match your passport exactly.
Since May 2025, U.S. travelers need a REAL ID-compliant license or other accepted ID, such as a passport, for domestic flights and certain federal facilities.
Many destinations require a visa for U.S. and Canadian citizens, and A&K notes these in your pre-travel documentation. Your passport should also have enough blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Verify requirements through CIBTvisas, and I’ll confirm exactly what your itinerary needs.
Europe’s new travel authorization for U.S. visitors is not yet in effect, and no launch date has been announced. I’ll let you know if it applies to your trip.
An Electronic Travel Authorisation is required for entry to the United Kingdom.
A&K strongly encourages every guest to talk with their physician before traveling, and some destinations have their own vaccination rules.
I strongly recommend reviewing travel advisories and health guidance before your trip so you’re fully prepared.
A few things that are helpful to know before you go.
A&K handles the details, and a little flexibility goes a long way. Here are a few things A&K travelers find helpful to know.
A&K’s teams on the ground are on call 24/7 throughout your journey.
A&K may adjust sightseeing, hotels, or riverboats when needed, and a smaller group never changes the published price.
On safari, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and weather can change the order of the day.
If one traveler cancels or leaves a journey and another stays on, a supplement may apply for the remaining guest.
All travel is subject to schedule adjustments, itinerary changes, weather disruptions, and operational delays.
Someone has already thought of everything. All you have to do is enjoy the view.
Whether you already have a destination in mind or are just beginning to dream, I’d love to help you find the A&K journey that fits you best. I’ll compare itineraries and travel styles, apply every savings offer you qualify for, and take care of the details from your first question to your welcome home.
