A Note from Elisa

Hi there!

Thank you for your interest in Silversea! I’ve gathered the most important details in one easy place, so you can see exactly what’s included, what you may want to add, and what to expect before, during, and after your voyage.

Silversea sails intimate, all-inclusive ships with a butler for every suite, on Classic voyages around the world and expeditions to all seven continents. Take a look through the sections below, and whenever you’re ready, I’d love to help you choose between Classic and expedition, and find the ship, suite, and fare that fit you best.

The Guide

The Experience

What’s included, where you’ll stay, and how you’ll spend your days.

What’s Included

All-Inclusive, with a Butler

Silversea is all-inclusive, with a personal butler in every suite and a staff-to-guest ratio of nearly one to one. Your drinks, your dining, Wi-Fi, and gratuities are already part of your fare.

Here’s what you can look forward to.

Imagine breakfast served in your suite by your butler, a glass of Champagne at sunset, and nothing to sign for at the end of your voyage.

Butler service in every suite

Silversea says it is the only cruise line worldwide to include butler service in every suite and category.

A replenished minibar

Stocked with your favorite drinks and refreshed daily by your butler.

Gratuities, taxes & fees

Elisa’s Tip

When you compare luxury lines, look at what’s included as well as the fare. With Silversea, a butler for every suite, drinks, Wi-Fi, and gratuities are already part of your voyage, and the right fare can add shore excursion credit or a refundable deposit.

Tipping customs for guides and drivers ashore vary by destination, and I’ll share what’s customary as we plan.

Pre- and Post-Cruise Stays

Hotels and independent touring can follow different practices.

Wondering how much cash to bring for incidentals and the odd extra thank-you? My guide to cash, cards, and currency in Europe has practical pointers.

Gratuity inclusions are set by Silversea and may change. I’ll confirm what’s included for every part of your journey.

Before You Sail

Preparing for Your Voyage

Before You Sail

In the months and weeks before departure, a few steps get you ready:

  • Reserve shore excursions, Land Programs, and any flight package
  • Share dining and spa preferences, and any dietary needs
  • On expeditions, review Silversea’s packing guidance for your region
  • Review your final travel documents before departure

I’ll let you know when each step opens for your voyage.

Helpful to Have Ready

A little preparation makes embarkation day effortless. Keep these details handy:

  • Passport details that match your reservation exactly
  • Flight and transfer information
  • Any dietary or accessibility needs
  • Emergency contact information

I’m glad to walk through every step with you.

Passports & Paperwork

Travel Documents & Entry Requirements

It is each traveler’s responsibility to carry proper documentation. Here’s what to have in order before you go.

Proof of Citizenship
  • A valid passport, valid at least 6 months beyond your return date
  • Visas where required
  • Green cards or other immigration documents, as applicable
  • Authorization documentation when traveling with minors

Names on reservations must match your passport exactly.

REAL ID

Since May 2025, U.S. travelers need a REAL ID-compliant license or other accepted ID, such as a passport, for domestic flights and certain federal facilities.

Travel Visas

Many voyages visit several countries, each with its own entry rules, and Galápagos voyages begin in Ecuador. Verify requirements through CIBTvisas, and I’ll confirm exactly what your itinerary needs.

ETIAS (Europe)

Europe’s new travel authorization for U.S. visitors is not yet in effect, and no launch date has been announced. I’ll let you know if it applies to your trip.

UK ETA

An Electronic Travel Authorisation is required for entry to the United Kingdom.

EU Entry/Exit System

Europe’s border system now registers non-EU visitors with fingerprints and a photo, so allow a little extra time at passport control on your first entry.

Travel Advisories & Health Guidance

I strongly recommend reviewing travel advisories and health guidance before your trip so you’re fully prepared.

Good to Know on the Water

Whether you’re at sea or on expedition, nature occasionally has its own plans. Silversea handles these moments smoothly, and a little flexibility goes a long way.

Kayaking Experience

Silversea recommends prior sea kayaking experience for its guided kayak outings.

Travel Subject to Change

All travel is subject to schedule adjustments, itinerary changes, weather disruptions, and operational delays.

Your Travel Documents

Final documents arrive before departure. I’ll let you know as soon as yours are ready.

Guided Path Travel compass emblem
